There are very few products that I can recommend without reservation, but the "Bore Stores" are one of them. A few weeks ago I got an e-mail from these folks requesting a link to our page. The name rang a bell in the recesses of my mind, and I did a little research. It suddenly dawned on me, I had been using these folks products for a number of years. I first became aware of them when the Premier Pistolsmith, Wayne Novak sent one of my belt guns back to me in one of their pouches. I gave him a call, and he told me that he had discovered them by accident, but had been using them exclusively every since! He put me onto the product and recommended Brownells as a source. I immediately sent for a bunch of them and have kept my short guns stashed in them every since. What I didnt realize, was that they also make long gun covers. When I had established contact with the "Bore Stores" folks, I ordered one that would fit the Garand and another to fit the Government Model .45 to insure that we were talking about the same product. When they came about 2 days ago, sure enough, they were the same item. I departed for South Africa over a year ago, and took a Glock 27 with me as a little insurance. I packed it in a Bore Stores pistol pouch to protect it on the trip. After two trips over and back, I was convinced that these things were the best things I had run onto since sliced cheese. The pouch is saturated with a silicone and the pile interior protects the firearm from the nicks and dings of everyday storage and handling. Its sorta like storing them in a pouch cushioned with bubble pack. The pouches are made in such a way that they are allowed to breathe and do not retain moisture. I can tell you from experience that your firearm will not rust or be subjected to any undue nicks and dings while they are stored in these outstanding gun scabbards. As soon as the rifle pouch arrived, I broke out my nicest Garand and tried it for fit. Its like pulling on a sock, and fits like it was made for the gun. As I suspected, these were the same pouches and manufacturer that had produced my sacred pouch that I had taken to South Africa. The nicest thing about these gun covers is that they are immanently affordable, and are a great piece of insurance for your priceless Garand! My latest acquisition is currently "cuddling" an H&R Garand in the 5,7XX,XXX serial number range that appears to be unfired. I have not had the heart to remove it, as the pouch and the rifle seem to have formed some sort of interpersonal affinity! I intend to send to the Bore Stores folks and acquire enough of these pouches to house my M1903s and my M1s the nice thing is that I can do this without Gloria ripping my fur off for bankrupting the family budget! The "Bore Stores" folks told me to tell you that if you'll mention that you saw it on the Gun Talk pages, they'll give you a 20% discount, which makes them even more of a bargain!
You may contact "Bore Strores" at their homepage:
Bore Stores are made in many different sizes and will make one to fit your particular "fowling piece" if you will just tell them what you need. The P-3 above works extremely well for the .45 Government Model or the M9 Pistol, and the RC-3 fits the Garand or '03 like a glove. |
