| Directions for Installing M-14 Buttstock Cleaning Kit
By Gus Fisher
Withdraw magazine from rifle, ensure the
chamber is empty, lock operating rod to the rear, push safety forwards to on-safe
position, point muzzle towards floor, rotate folding buttplate up to locked position, and
open the buttplate trapdoor. [Graphic]
Drop the Oiler and Lubricant Case
into the top hole under the buttplate trap.
Place the bronze bristle portion of the Chamber
Brush INSIDE the large opening of the Combination Tool. Keep both pieces
together and drop them into the top hole with the plastic portion of the Chamber Brush
going in first. (The plastic portion of the Chamber Brush will act as a buffer
between the Oiler and Lubricant Case and the Combination Tool.)
Drop the Cleaning Rod Case into
the bottom hole starting with the closed bottom portion going into the hole first. The
tail of cloth goes toward the buttplate. (You extract the entire Cleaning Rod Case
out of the hole by pulling on this tail when you want to use the rods, tip, and bore
brush.)
Fold bore cleaning patches over both
holes to keep the parts of the Buttstock Cleaning Kit from rattling around under the
buttplate. (You have to try different quantities of patches to ensure you can close and
lock the Buttplate Trapdoor.) Rotate folding buttplate down to closed position.
