CSP And Mouse Tricks!

For the Newbies on the board, here are a couple of tips that will increase your enjoyment and should speed up the entire process.

  1. Let the forum load. When you find an article (Post) you would like to read, "Right" mouse click on the link (Right Mouse Button). This will bring up a menu. You will see, "Open In New Window". Click that option. The article then opens in this new window. When you are done, close that new window. Return to the main forum. Go on to the next article. This saves having to reload every time you want to open a new article (Post). I refresh/reload the main forum every few hours or so. Much quicker and less hassle... Try it, it works on other sites also and is a real time saver.  See Other menus below. Netscape, MS Internet Explore

  2. When you wish to answer a thread or submit a new posting to the page, use the "RIGHT MOUSE TRICK" above to open the new window (where you type in the message) instead of simply "left mouse clicking" the link that says "POST", "REPLY", or whatever. The posting window sometimes seems to take forever until the "confirmation page" shows up. The "NEW TIP" is that the message is actually "posted" long before the "confirmation page" is displayed. Using this new tip, (once you have pushed the "it takes forever button"), simply minimize the "posting window", and let the electrons do their thingie. You will then be able to continue to read the board while your "answer" or "article" is being posted. You can check for "posting results" anytime after about 30 seconds or less, by simply using the "RELOAD" button on your browser (with the main page open) and you will find that it is almost always has been successfully posted. You can then simply go up and "CLOSE" the posting (window) page you have minimized and you are good to go.

  3. If you choose to post or answer one of the threads, and it turns out to be a long dissertation (one of my worst failings), simply compose your posting in your word processing program, and do a spell check. You can then save it to "clipboard" and simply paste it into the window, fill out the name and other data and push "submit (post)"... This is easier (and quicker) for me, and it saves much embarrassment due to misspellings and punctuation. For your quick and dirty answers, it's probably faster to simply type the short reply into the window.

  4. Using "Clipboard". First "Highlight" (see Graphic below) the "TEXT" you would like to place in your article (Post). Click your mouse to the "LEFT" of your text, "HOLD" the "LEFT" mouse button down, and drag across the text. This will cause the text to become highlighted. The color depends on how you have your computer setup and the program you are using to write in. NOTE: Your text must remain "HIGHLIGHTED" for it to be copied to clipboard, try this here if you like. Then "RIGHT" mouse click (right mouse button). This will bring up a menu with a few options. Select "COPY" (see graphic below). After you have your "TEXT" copied to the "CLIPBOARD". Simply return to the article you wish to reply to or start a new thread. Again fill out the Name and Subject line. Click inside the large "WHITE" message window. Then again in that window, "RIGHT MOUSE CLICK," you will have another "MENU" pop up. Select "PASTE". This will transfer the text you earlier "Copied" to clipboard into the message window.

  5. This Copy and Paste stuff can be used from just about all the programs you might have on your computer. It will also work from your Internet browser to "COPY" and "PASTE" text into a word processing program.
