Tried this just today in my Kimber Target II, it works great, very accurate:

200 gr Rainier plated round nose
5.1 gr of W231 powder
Wolf LP primers
OAL 1.27", taper crimp
Used good quality once fired brass

Wolf primers are hotter, so the load was a little hot, but not over the top. Your situation may vary, so I recommend that you work up to this from a lower starting load. This load duplicated recoil of fulll power factory hard ball ammo, so it made for realistic practice with a cheaper bullet. Load was very accurate in my pistol, easy to keep in a nice tight group in off hand shooting at 25yd.

thanks for the post, I just got 1000 of those Rainier bullets last week, first time I will be using them.
I still have some CCI and Win primers so maybe 5.3 grains of 231 powder

you guys might try Unique in your .45ACP loads, vvg velocity, low pressure, accurate, consistent, & I think less muzzle flash too.

I have used 6.5grs. of Unique with the 230 and found supper accuracy at 50-Yards. The load is below max and cycles perfect.

that's our load too, Unique doesn't batter the pistol, functions flawlessly, cheap to reload, good accuracy, what more can an old fart ask for? Plus it goes through both the RCBS & Dillon powder throwers very consistently & smoothly.Good velocities, with safe pressures.
