Another game:

Greater than 5747, less than 8763. If you have one in that range the serial and picture would be appreciated.

I THINK 6692 has the slot; I'm at work - will try to remember to check it next time I'm in the storage area.

Paging Frank Luczak. You had 8538 right?
Mook had 7727.

7540 was on gunbroker some time ago but sporterized. 7136 also sold at auction. "Messed up" is the note I kept. Would be interesting to take a peek under the plate.

Greetings 5MadFarmers- sorry about the delay. I had the opportunity to participate in the political process of our great Republic. Only in SD can you run into the Governor and his wife in the parking lot on the way into a dinner. No guards or security, just shake hands and visit on the way in. We talked about all the imprtant issues like 10" of rain and flooding and mosquitos big enough to airlift a regiment.

Now back to Krags. Serial number 8538 does not have the slot, just the pin. All the major parts on this rifle are serial numbered to match the reciever. I sold Mook a rifle in the 11000 range. I don't remember much about it's configuration. I only owned it a short time as did Bill as he passed away about 3 months after I sold it to him. I hope this adds to the mix.

I had breakfast with our Governor once. Was at an event where, when I walked into the dining area, one of the former "powers that were" was sitting alone. He'd committed a political sin and was being soundly avoided. I thought that was a mite rude so, me not being anyone who matters, I went and sat with him. When the Governor came in he spotted the political pariah and came over and sat down. I ate my breakfast and made a quick departure. It's not good to be known to people like that.

Having a drink with his wife a few months later went even worse.

That shaves another 200 of the gap so thank you for that. Do you still have access to the rifle? I'm curious on which parts are numbered.

The loading gate and the left side plate for sure. Without tearing it apart I don't remember any of the smaller parts. I think the follower may be marked but I will have to check. That was why I liked this one, the parts were matching and correct.

I think that changed over time. I'm pretty sure of it. At first I assumed that they dropped numbering bits all at the same time. I no longer believe that to be true. If people wonder why I like everything documented that would be the reason why; whenever I assume something like that it always turns out to be wrong.

Initially at least 6 bits were numbered.

I had the opportunity to look at Bill Mook's serial number 100. That had numbers on the safty and all sorts of little parts. Bill had to dry that one off after I drooled on it.
