Does anyone know what type of powder is in Greek HXP 30-06 ammunition. I have a suspicion that the loads are hot but don't know about the powder.

As to the powder - who knows, something that would equal an M2 ball mil spec load as far as pressure curve and velocity go.

I have never heard that the were loaded too hot. Actually they produce much less recoil in my rifle(s) than commercial loads which mitigates toward them being M2 ball spec. With my 200 yard dope dialed into my favorite M1, if I add three clicks I am about on at 300 yards with HXP M2 ball which again would about be where it should be for mil spec. I have not chronographed them but I know of folks who have who report they come to about 2,820 fps which again would equal mil spec.

So the short answer is, in my experience and that of others it is about M2 ball spec. and is not loaded hot at all.

From what I understand, there is a pressure range for ammo to be used with the Garand, and the HXP is a made to be in the higher portion of that pressure range. It is still within that pressure range, but just at a higher amount than the LC ammo. Works flawlessly in mine.

Comte DeLoach is correct about the variation. The Lake City available in the past from the CMP is loaded to the very low end of the M2 spec and seems to produce velocities in the 2750 fps range. Both are just fine in an M1 and in my rifles anyway, if I am zero'ed in with one I seem to be still zero'ed in with the other so the difference is nothing much to talk about.

Have put several thousand of these down range out of my Garand. This is what I choose to shoot in club CMP matches and it is Gold Medal capable if I do my part. Just Another Old Doggy, Don

My Garand, Springfield, and Enfield shoot HXP just fine. More accurate than LC.....chris3
