View Full Version : Info for PH6 target sight
I am looking for info on a Parker Hale Model 6 target sight. I have found the Model 6A info but can not find info on the Model 6.
The Model 6 is different in style as compared to the 6A.
There is a 6E, which is for slimmed-down P-14/P-17 actions
it is for an SMLE or Long lee it looks like.
I have a 5 here; the 5A is just a product-improved version. The construction of this 6 is similar to the 5. This 6 seems to bear the same relationship to a 6A which I used to have and sold to somebody a few years ago. It is for the Long rifle.
So both the 6 and 6A are for the Long Lee ? It fits well on the SMLE and I have a 6A coming and I will be using it on the SMLE. I kind of like how it does not have the leg that goes to the trigger guard like the 5A.
It's intended for the Long rifle's body where there is no safety catch, just the holes for the dumbbell spring for the long-range sight. I've never heard of anyone fitting to the Short rifle - one seldom sees the 6 or 6A so most people would reserve them for the Long rifle when they turn up.
I did put it on one of the SMLEs I own and it fit just fine. The only thing it needs is the coil spring to put pressure against the safety lever like the 5A.
I have pics and can post them if you'd like to see it on the SMLE.
I appreciate the info - I am looking at possibly/maybe trading or selling the model 6 but have no idea what one would sell for. I have not seen one before.
Would need some wood from stock removed or slimmed down
Just received my ParkerHale 6A sight and there aresme slight differences. The bottom of the 6A is cut to fit over the stock unlike the Model6. Both mount the same and both arms are the same length. Just interesting to me.
