When I posted the work pictures earlier some folks, enjoyed them. So this is for you. Parts of the project are coming to a close. Fortunately we were just awarded another job, but we haven't started that one yet.

This picture shows a pipefitter/welder team installing a 4" vapour recovery unit line.

This picture is of a small tank to which we are installing new piping, instrumentation, catwalks, steam tracing and insulation.

This just the view from the catwalk, the sun hasn't reached this side of the mountain yet.

This is the crew installing the copper tubing for steam tracing. As this will become a bio-diesel tank it needs to be heated, but not too hot as you might be able to tell by the insulation strips behind the tubing. Soon the tank will be fully insulated and clad.

Some more pic's ( only allowed 4 a time ).

A tie-in piece being swung over to position. These sort of pieces require the best of tradesmen, again pipefitter/welder teams as they must fit precisely into existing piping which is not very often straight or square and the job must go quickly as the lines are out of service. Which means no product is flowing and no profits are being made. The elbow on the right hand side must be welded to an existing pipe and since all our welds are xrayed the tolerances must be within a 1/16th of an inch.

This picture shows it being lowered into place, because they could not gas free the line it is being tee'd into we had to cold cut the existing pipe ( air saw ) and plug the inside of the pipe while we welded on the flanges.

This picture shows the welder climbing into the hole where he has to weld the elbow. Gives you an idea of just how skilled these men are.

We had a crew lunch today as one of the guys is getting married this weekend and 3 of the guys were getting laid of as thier portion of the job is completed. In our business we are always working ourselves out of a job.

Last bunch.

This picture is from the inside of the large storage tank which we saw the pictures of before. Here we have installed a new 24" manway. You can see where the dye from the testing procedure has run down the shell. You can also see the completed floating roof seal and the new pontoons we installed. Also some notes of the foreman.

Here is another picture of the underside of the floating roof and the new seal/pontoons. Also you can see the scaffolding which is holding up the roof so the floor can be painted with special paint where the maintenance legs normally are.

This is a picture on top of the floating roof showing the finished installation of the fabric to the stainless steel shoes.

used to work for Patent Scaffold way back when. That scaffold goes up easily & quickly, can stand heavy loads too.

Thanks for the memories again, the insulators, fitters will have fun doing the tanks & lines when they are spaced that closely together.

How can you stand to live/work in such desolate looking country? I bet there are no fish in that water either. Oh, to be so unfortunate.

Again Red, my writing and proof reading skills are sorely lacking. The installation of the seal on the floating roof is complete. And this means some of the guys were laid off, hopefully they get laid too.

In the construction racket finishing a job is often bitter sweet, you are happy to of been part of the team to bring the project to a successful completion. But it also means that the job is over.

Glad you liked the pictures.

The country around here isn't too bad Ed, but I'm heading up to the cabin for a quick trip tommorrow and it's not half as ugly up there.
