My son and his grilfriend have been saving up thier money and are off on a road trip. He bought a little tear drop trailer ( basically a bed on wheels ) packed a bunch of stuff and headed off to Prince Edward Island then down the east coast of the U.S. and cut back west across the southern states back into California and then head home up the I-5.
He is quite a sports fan and is hoping to catch some games in various locations across both our nations. He feels that watching a hockey game in Montreal, a baseball game in New York and a football game in Texas would be the way to go.
He left Tuesday, made the Rockies and then on to Drumheller to see the dinosaurs, I believe they are somewhere in Saskatchewan today. I will post some pictures as I get them ( I'm not too sure how to do the Facebook or texting stuff which seems to be how kids keep in touch today ).
So if you see a red headed kid traveling through your town in a gray Ford pick-up with a little tear drop trailer and British Columbia plates, stop him and say Hi and send me a picture.

Ken!! Please tell me he is going to visit Yellowstone national park! I live in Utah (6 hrs away) and it is a must see. But advise him to stay a respectful distance from the buffalo. The males are not to be played with! Keep us updated. best greg :)

I will pass on your advice and any and all other advice I get here. Nothing like having the locals share thier experience.
Thank-you

PEI, eh? "There's no time like the Maritimes." My Grandmother was born on PEI and every time we took her "up home", the Canadian Customs people never failed to say "welcome home Mrs. Golden". I guess that's changed too. Tell him to be sure to make the beach in NC. Even in October it's a treat.

Talked to Craig yesterday and he and his girlfriend were in Toronto and had gone to a Blue Jays game. Then they had dinner at Wayne Gretzsky's resturant which they said was crummy ( as if the great one hasn't made enough money fron hockey he couldn't put out a decent meal for the price ).
They had already been down to Niagara Falls for a couple of days and thought that was pretty cool. They want to go to the Hockey Hall of Fame today and then up to Ottawa. Then Montreal and Quebec and then to the Maritimes, after that Newfoundland and then down through the States.
Ed has already been kind enough to offer to show them around his part of Texas, if they should pass by that way.
Not bad traveling seeing how they only left home 2 weeks ago tommorrow.

Hi Russ,
Craig and his girlfriend just left PEI today. They had a wonderful time, the people were terrific. We had a young fellow from PEI work with us last year and Craig hooked up with him, 8 medium lobsters for $24 and a whole bunch of beer from what I hear. Then they met an older couple who own a golf course who let them camp on thier course for free, took them into thier house for dinner and let them shower ( they only have a small tear drop trailer ) Craig was playing golf with the owner when a friend of the owner came up and offered to take them out deep sea fishing so jumped on the chance and had a great day catching cod and mackeral. They can't say enough good things about PEI.

Ken, do you have larger images? The thumbnails don't enlarge and the photos do look interesting.
While in Ottawa, did they take in the war museum and the old mint?

Unfortunately that's as big as they seem to go, maybe Face Book doesn't allow them to be as big as PhotoBucket?
I found this picture, does it look like the war museum?

Ken,
Advise your son to drive with caution throughout the states. SOME, not most, local law enforcement personnel target "out-of-towners" for exceeding posted speeds thinking the exotic visitors won't travel back the distance to fight a traffic ticket (wouldn't be cost-effective).
I'm sure your red-headed son is quite the handsome dude. NO DOUBT, he got his good looks from his mother!

Ken,
I have no clue about Facebook, My Space, Twitter dee or tweeter dum. ;)
Reason I asked about the War Museum is because I haven't seen the new one. It's only been opened for a few years.
Thanks all the same,
Hi Ken,
if Craig take the right exit from the Highway, i think he has to look for a veeerry small traffic sign with the name " Bavaria only 5000 miles to swim "
he will be welcomed every time. Eventually on the next trip to Europe.
Good luck to him and his girlfriend!:hello:
Regards
Gunner
Ken, Give our best to your son and girlfriend. On their way down the seaboard a interesting place is the Springfield Armory Museum in Taxacchussetts. There is a lot of history there.:icon_salut:

Were those pics taken at the Citadel in Halifax? they look familiar.
Just in passing, I was shown the grave of an Civil War Navy Medal of Honor recipient in the local cemetary. Odd to see that in Canada.;)

Yes John, good eye. With all that history it's too bad they are so small.

I'm not too sure if this will be big enough as it came from facebook also. It's a Macdonald's ordering board, where they have McLobsters. Craig had one but apparently they are not very good.
Greg, asked me via p.m.where the boy was. Believe it or not I had to tll him that they are now in Dildo, Newfoundland.

Well they have entered the States. They entered in Maine and drove down to New York State. I'm always surprised just how small the states and provinces are back east. To drive from Vancouver to the top of the province is a good 3 days drive. Back east 3 days gets you through a lot of places. Hopefully get some pictures from the States soon.

"I'm always surprised just how small the states and provinces are back east."
In Texas we say as we travel to other States, "the sun has ris and the sun is set here I is in Texas yet."
Maybe they could stop at the place in the link http://www.stonehavenrealalefestival.co.uk/.

I don't think they were too impressed with New York, $50 for campsite was too rich for them. At Pittsburg now I believe. Must be quite an eye opener for them.
