Where has all the .45 Colt brass gone? I recently obtained a Colt SAA in .45 and cannot find brass anywhere.

Midway USA has plenty of it in stock and Graf and Sons has Remington nickel plated in stock.

A few days ago Midway had none. Now they have Remington in stock. I've had so much bad luck with Remington pistol brass, that I just pull the ammo down and salvage the bullets. Uncle Sam once issued me quite a bit of .45 ACP Remington 185 Gr. HP. About one third of the cartridges had cases that came out of the box with visible splits. Many of the others split from stem to stern upon firing. We once had an entire lot of Remington 155 Grain .40 S&W that had to be shipped back due to the bullets fitting loosely in the cases, you could compress the bullet into the case with just finger pressure. I now run from Remington ammo or metallic components.

If I can't find it anywhere else, I'll hold out until Midway gets some more Starline or Hornaday.

In my Savage 12FV in 223 Rem with Winchester brass, Winchester 748 powder and Nosler 50gr Ballistic Tips. that load shoots .25 moa. I tried a box of Remington 150gr 300 Win Mags in my Savage Tactic and the best group I got was 1.35 moa. With my loads the rifle shoots under .5 and with Federal Match rounds it shoots .7 Needless to say I don't think much of Remington's products, with the exception of those bench rest primers.

If you had to carry a gun to defend your hide, you might take Remington's lack of quality control and resultant failures more seriously. I'm glad that your rifles shoot so well!

Since we started reloading back in the early 80's, we've bought little factory loaded ammo, besides cases of low brass 20 ga 7 1/2 shotshells for the bird fields.You can load ammo better & cheaper than all but the best Hornady & Nosler factory ammo & you can equal it.

I'd never had problems with Remington ammo or components, but prefer CCI primers as they cycle through our Dillon 550 & old RCBS Rockchucker the best.

You might try some of the Starline brass in .45LC, if ya buy new un primed brass, run it through your case tumbler/cleaner before loading it, it'll re-size easier & have reloaded some for a lodge bro 10 times or better over Unique powder with a Kieth style 255gr LSWC, very accurate too.Starline's brass is at least as good as any of the major ammo companies' are & maybe better We load it up in .45LC, .44mag, .44Spec, 9mm, .40S&W & never have had a problem with it.

Yes Starline is good stuff in my experience and would be my first choice, however their website just pushed back their projected "In Stock Date" from mid August to September 30th. I've got about one hundred used cases that I will just have to treat gently until some Starline or Winchester appears. Can't wait to try out the new mould, though, probably early next week. It's hot for casting, but I've got no patience for waiting on the weather.
