View Full Version : WWI 1907 sling value?
Any ballpark guesses as to how much a sling with R-S, 1917, G.M.S marks is worth? The 1917 is stamped a little light but is visible in the photo - Thanks!
It looks like the frog is loose in the pic. Is it? If the frogs are good and tight, and no leather is torn near them, AND there is no major cracking of any leather, then a decent early dated sling these days is fetching around $100 +- . WW2 dated seem to bring more, I've seen some really mint ones in the $300 range but for some reason the earlier ones don't get as high. If it has defects like loose frogs or cracking etc then its about a $50 sling. Also are all the keepers with it and are they original stitched ones or stapled replacements?
i appreciate the reply M1riflenut. One of the rivets on one frog is loose - the rest are solid. The leather has small cracks - like in the photo - but looks good and strong. The keepers are all stitched. Not a bad looking sling. What's the best leather treatment for these? Thanks again.
