Does anyone know what the serial number range is for the earliest use of the hammer spring plunger without wings?
........says that the old type was used exclusively until late 1943 or early 1944 then both types were used throuhout WWII production. That would make 2.4 mill an approximate start date on the new type.

Thanks. I have a 2720xxx that appears to be all original and has the wingless plunger.

Don't worry. I know better.
I am certain this s/n 2,770,0xx is original, well worn condition not much finish left on the receiver, barrel is 1SA 4 44. Trigger housing is -12-SA, safety SA_11, hammer -5 SA and the hammer spring guide is without finish and with the guide wings.
I think you will find both kinds on WW2 rifles
