Remington 1903 converted to 22

What do you guys think of this? I picked it up at a local gun shop not too long ago for $170 OTD. It has a 1960's Numrich .22 conversion kit in it. I think it's pretty unique.

I want to know the name of your gunshop.

That is, aside from the obscene stock modification, an absolute steal.

The conversion kit is now selling for more than you paid for the rifle, and the sights might be close to the price you paid.

Yea, I'm not crazy about the stock modification. It was apparently made for a younger shooter. It was cut down and then later the light color piece added to lengthen it. When I bought it there was a recoil pad on the end. I removed the pad, added a piece of walnut, and fit a 03A3 butt plate.

The stock is actually very comfortable to shoulder and it's grown on me to some extent.

I'd say put a CMP replica C-Type stock on it, and you've got a winner! Some bargains are so amazing they just make a fellow giggle, and even better that you get to shoot this one. Congrats on a great find!

Thanks. Yes, I've thought about putting a CMP stock on it but just haven't decided yet.

I paid $550 for mine at a gun show a while back but it was installed in a mint 03a3 so I count the conversion kit as free gift. I would sell that stock and pick up a standard issue stock. Don't forget that conversion kit will transfer and fit any 03, A3 or A4 so have fun.

Sounds like you did even better than me.

I also bought one of those 99% Remington 03A3's that are floating around at the same shop for $450 a few weeks ago.

Naw, even if you spend $150 for a NOS stock you still only have $320 in your setup. Plus you recoup from the sale of the old stock. I know one thing. We both own an item that is becoming increasingly rare and going for nutty prices' if you ever find one for sale.
