not corr. 13700 6-51 was first non-corr
"...13700 6-51 was first non-corr..." Corrosive. The U.S. military went to non-corrosive in 1952, except for match ammo.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard the "old shooters tale" told to me back in the 60s. I was told one of the ways to tell the difference between corrosive and non-corrosive U.S. ammo was the color of the primer sealant. Red for corrosive and blue for non-corrosive. Never had to test this since I could buy 2x as much corrosive as non-corrosive at the time and one of joys of shooting is the time spent cleaning your guns before putting them away. This is just one of those random bits of memory that this thread popped up. It's not that I have CRS, it's just that I can't always find the information when I need it!

That cannot be accurate. A lot of Lake City 69 M2 ball has red sealant and is non corrosive.
Wra ball 7.62 is red sealant too

Thanks, I never really put much creedance into it but it never hurts to ask. Like I said, I have more fun cleaning up some days than I do at the range.
