Hi All,
My friend Mike Adams (former Marine) is running in the Marine Corps Marathon in October. He is seeking sponsors to raise money for Wounded Warriors. If you're interested, please read his message below. Every little bit helps. If you have any questions, you can email him (address at bottom).
Thanks

Dear Friends and Family,
Three months ago, an old friend contacted me. He informed me he was going to run the Marine Corps Marathon this fall. I congratulated him on his goal, and was ready to hang up when he continued by letting me know that I was going to run it with him.
Now, at age 45, having not run in nearly 10 years, expecting a baby, busy lifestyle, oh, three children, two in sports, one a type-1 diabetic, a busy career in a shrinking economy, just a few aches and pains, my answer to him was as clear as any every uttered by my lips.
“No”.
But, he continued, we’ll be running with a team formed in the memory of a USMC 1st LT. who was killed in battle. Compelling, but my answer remained the same, as I rubbed my sore hands, before I answered him.
Mike, he continued, we’ll be raising money for wounded veterans and their families.

Mike Gaiser, copied on this email, ends every electronic message with “What have you done for America”. Well, it turns out, I, like most of my friends am pretty patriotic, and over a course of a life have done a fair bit for this county. But still, this message resonates with me.
I remind my kids every night that our country is at war. That our Marines and Soldiers are fighting it, that our cops, our teachers, and good families everywhere are fighting it. I point to heroes, real ones, people like many of you...actually, including many of you.
The chance to raise a little money for our wounded warriors was too great an opportunity great to pass up.
I am now part of Team Travis Manion. Travis was a Navy Football player turned USMC 1st LT. After his first tour of duty, he joined a Recon unit. He went back to Iraq, and was later killed by sniper fire while clearing out an ambush site.
Travis had plans of running the Marine Corps Marathon with his father when he got home. His Dad actually purchased two bib numbers, one for him and Travis.
His father ran the marathon with both his and his son's bib number. A hundred others ran it with him, in support of Travis’ memory.
From this effort, Team Travis was born. They now compete in the USMC Marathon, the Boston marathon, West Point’s Triathlon and many, many more events. In this way, they raise money for wounded warriors, their families, and active duty soldiers.
There in lies the point of this email. Thank you in advance, for your donation.
