looks like a thompson. wonder why the guy in background is firing a carbine with bayonet attached..

The compensator on the end made me think Reising as well but I thought they were just used by the Marines.

its the 1928 thompson with compensator (non m1 m1a model). look closely its laying on its back, and you can see its pistol grip :)

... with the butt removed. Note the two mags on the table. Also , in background is an M1 carbine with a M8 grenade launcher on it , and a M1 Garand with an AT grenade on it. To the side is an M1 Carbine with an AT grenade on it and you can just see the end af a very early bazooka ( note the foregrip and the front sight block on the one side only). Note too , that the BAR has it's bipod removed ( center of pic on canvas covering ). Lots of neat stuff in this one. Chris
