I'm afraid that's what happens when a board shuts down, even for a short time. A few people probably said the heck with it, and gave up altogether. Some are probably still at MilSurp (WHY I do not know - awful navigation). Others are likely constrained by the economy. Perhaps some have folowed Bill Mook and Frank Mallory to Krag heaven. Hopefully, it will get better. KCA is even slower, but, to be honest, they never were a real ball of fire anyhow! :-)

Yep, know the feeling. Maybe post some pics of my 1898 when Momma gets that new trick camera for me.

What I'd really like to do is put together photos of muskets from circa 1808 - 1898.

I wonder if the economy has slowed the board down. Fewer folks buying fewer Krags (or trapdoors or whatever) means fewer people, like myself, joining up on the board to ask dumb questions or to show off their new rifle.

Ahhh.... the good old days.

may have a lot to do with it,

I did not post much on the Krag (or trapdoor) sections of the old Jouster, simply went there to learn,
(I have a 99 carbine and 98 rifle)

I do miss the action, esp some of the entertaining posts from 5madfarmers,

here's hoping things pick up in the future!!:1948:

Dick, I live here in Colorado Springs and Bill Mook had invited me over to his house on a couple of occassions to look at a Krag or something. What a collection he had. I never heard that he had passed until I saw it on this board a couple of weeks ago. Can you fill me in on what happened to him?

I believe it was almost two years ago that Bill passed away, (December 2007). I completed a trade with Bill just a month before he passed away. Guys like Bill are fewer and fewer. He was a wealth of knowledge and willing to share with guys like me. I know a lot of the people that have taught me what little I know are gone and the tons of experience and knowledge gone with them. Some have forgotten more that I will ever know. I for one have spent less time with my collection because of the ecomomy. Less temptation to sell something I will regret later.

I will post a question. Can someone tell me that Benicia Arsenal paper work with a made up Krag carbine would include the serial number.
This is from the 1930's. Also would one of these made up carbines use a modified '03 barrel????????
