I thought some might find this interesting. I presume the trajectories are similar.:icon_lol:

For those with bad eyesight like me, there is a complete 1903 Springfield mounted on top of that naval gun. I'll bet that sucker rusted like in nail in a pig pen.

With the sling still on it I bet it was only mounted just before they used it.

I am sure that if that rifle has any rust, someone will be cleaning the head for life.

According to the information with the picture, which was just one in a series of mounted sub-caliber devices, it would appear it is permanently (removable of course) mounted. At the time this picture was taken (WWI), the gun was obviously not in use, but ready to fire.
