has the stamped guard, non-lockbar sight & SA 49 dated barrel.
replacement wood no stamps, but finish is appropriate for age.
SN: 2.8 million
Not that I can't afford it (will be eating PBJ's for next three years), but its as close as possible to time period and not wanting to haunt the shows for correct parts. should I get it, may have a son-in-law that WOULD appreciate it.
???
So what is the asking price?

I don't understand what your saying. You don't want to hunt down correct parts? So are you looking for a correct WRA? If so, I would pass on this one. If correct parts are not the issue, it sounds like your typical mix master garand which happens to have a WRA receiver. Check the Op Rod and see if it's WRA. The WRA Op Rods can be worth quite a bit. I wouldn't pay over five fifty for the thing.

over $725 for mixmasters just like this one. Not enough info. given to give even a ballpark price on this one. Barrel condition will be a big factor.
A mixmaster SA just sold for $1025.00 at a local auction.
Winchester serial numbers only went to 2,534,232. With a 2.8 million serial number is it a Springfield M1 garand or a Winchester?

Wins only went to 2,534,232? Don't think so. I've got a Win 2,535,xxx.
Here are a few I have written down. The 2.536 I can't verify. Have no info on it. It might be a number I snagged off of Gunbroker.
2,535,378 wence5 CMP SA
2,535,995 ScoutII (A suffix) Battlerifles WRA
2,536,066 WRA

Isn't he point there are no known 2.8 million WRA's? I would guess a refinished 2.3 and the 3 looks like a 8. Donald
