They made replacement barrels for both the M1 and M1 carbine.
My four digit rifle had one on it.
I have been led to believe that the ones for the carbines were quite good.

According to Larry Ruth's "War Baby", Buffalo Arms and Marlin had higher carbine barrel rejection rates than the others, that is not to say that those that passed inspection weren't decent.

BA barrels were not "replacements" for carbines, some used them during original assembly.
