Saw this on Auction Arms. 1861 Savage lock. 73 Trapdoor stock? Cut down 50-70 Trapdoor? http://buy.auctionarms.com/10117554/savage-r-f-a-co-1864-50-70-cal-breech-loading-saddle-ring-carbine

Lord knows WHAT that is - one thing for certain sure - it is absolutely NOT the rare M1870 Carbine, of which just 341 were made, nor could it be "restored" into one. Too many things wrong with it.

Now THAT'S the real thing, and the real world price, though Ken DOES tend towards the high end of the $$$ scale. In this economy I suspect he'll have it for awhile. :-)

A similar arm, also real, is on Frasca's site, for $8300. Just glad I got mine many years ago!

Sadly my wallet could never afford that beating. Come to think of it, neither could I - from 'she who shall be obeyed' - if she ever found out!
