Had a chance to look over and buy a 3rd Gen. 4&3/4" N.F. Colt in .45 Cal.this week. The revolver was in about 90% condition, wrong box and needed a cleaning[lots of lead in that barrel, hot loads!]. I have always wanted a 4&3/4" and I have recently read where Colt is going to make them again. Unfortunately, the price on this one was more than I wanted to pay.Shame 'cause I have a .45 ACP cylinder to go in a 3rd. Gen. revolver.Oh well,I do have a few 7&1/2" N.F.s to shoot and a home customized Old Model Ruger 4&5/8ths convertable so, it isn't like I don't have something to shoot! All my N.F.s are "early 3rd Gen" guns but I have a new unfitted 5&1/2" .45 barrel for a second gen. gun. I just don't want to "crush fit"the tapered barrel into a straight threaded frame. Both 4&3/4"and 5&1/2" N.F.s are pretty rare. Nick
Sir, Has your wife no fine china & crystal to sell in order that you have the necessities of life? Hell she'll probably not even miss them until Thanksgiving or Christmas...........Let me know how this works out for you Nick, have been gazing @ my wife's Fenton art glass collection for a while.
Heck that stuff would almost certainly get broken in a bad storm/tornado/earthquake, whereas a fine firearm in a huge safe, would certainly escape damage.
Just trying to help out......

gimp, I'm happy to say that I could have purchased that pistol if I wanted but, in this case, value did not add up to the ridiculous price. I found[without much effort] 4&3/4" and 5&1/2" New Frontiers new,in the box, with papers, complete on GB for $1395 to $1695.Why in the world would I pay $1600 for a used,90%, wrong box,no papers gun?I understand the concept of "pay what the traffic will bear" but that is nuts. Besides I have read where Colt is going to make them again! Yeah! We'll have to see what the price point will be on new ones. I guess you could say I wasn't looking so much for the gun as I was a reasonable deal.BTW: I do have two WWII [1943]mess kits, do you think that is as good a fine crystal? At least I don't have to worry about dropping them! Nick
hell I only paid $1100 for one of my old Bisleys, & $635.00 for the other, I am frugal sir. 1st is in .41 Colt., .45 Colt the 2nd. Haven't bought one in nearly 10 years though.
