Is it OK to use in a 1884 trapdoor rifle? Using either 405 or 500 grain lead bullets, what would be recommended loads?
Thanks guys

Can't speak for Triple 7 but I have used American Pioneer in the '84. 60 grains of 2f beneath a 405 gr. flat point worked well for me.

Isn't triple 7 in tablet form only? If so it is only suitible for modern in-lines! If it now comes in gradular form then read the directions or contact the company! Amer Pioneer is volume measurment to BP.

Triple 7 comes in both pellets an powder. The powder is available in 2F and 3F granulation.

Triple 7 is safe to use in the trapdoor. Just be sure to reduce the load (BY VOLUME) by 15% as compared with black powder loads as Triple 7 is lighter than black powder.

That being said, I have used it in my 1879 trapdoor with both 385 gr. and 500 gr. bullets, but was unable to obtain good results. Good luck.
