I just picked up a National Postal Meter and it has a stamped trigger guard. This is the firstone I have seen. Was this an expediant or was it broken and repaired? TIA

Larry Ruth calls this a Type A Variation 3 trigger housing. It was fabricated from stampings brazed together. This design was fully interchangeable with the milled type and was incorporated on May 22, 1943. Used by Underwood, Quality HMC, Rock-Ola, Standard Proucts and I.B.M.

Is this an "Austrian" carbine? Looks like some markings on the underside of the trigger housing.
