Okay, I know this isn't a 'smart money' move...but here goes.
My dad used a riot gun Model 12 in Vietnam. I have a photo somewhere of him holding it. Anyway, I would like to recreate something like it for a fun shooter and as a keepsake.
I am getting a circa 1925 "beater" Model 12 in a trade that should make a good base gun or donor. All patina finish, and a Cutts comp on the end of the barrel. I didn't want to mutilate or Bubba a decent example of a field gun. (I have one of those I wouldn't cut on.)
I have heard Wright's Gunsmiths are Model 12 specialists. Anybody have recommendations on somebody else to work on something like this? I am guessing the donor gun will need a little TLC, and the barrel bobbed, and a refinish probably.
Also, a chip in the toe makes me think I will want to add a 40s style stock as a replacement maybe. Any input on features etc. is appreciated.
