A buddy of mine has this it has every thing but a complete stock. Barrel is like new all other metal is reparked. No Hatcher hole. What would be a good price for this item.

Hard to say, Johnny. Are you saying the receiver and everything is reparked, bolt too?

I would say about $500.00.

$ 250 for a "COMPLETE" Hi-# action (with trigger guard, floor plate & follower) and $250 for a barrel assembly "COMPLETE" with both sights & good bore.

Mike the Barrel has original finish and is installed on a mixed parts complete SA action that looks like all parts bolt trigger housing and all small parts were refinished at the same time. I will try to get pics. Thanks for the reply. I was not sure what the barrel might be worth. I don't know much about Sedgley barrels as far as quality or collector value.

Check the barrel carefully for external bend marks, and internally with a tight fitting patch for tight areas which could indicate a demilled ( bent) barrel that has been straightened. FED ORD sold many 03 barrels of SA and Sedgeley mfr that have been straightened. Some shoot very well, though, even if straightened, I have one. As late as the mid 70's you could buy new Sedgeley barrels out of THE RIFLEMAN for $42 Each.

When I researched it, most USMC sedgley barrels made post 1942 were never used by the Marines. In fact post 1942 they were moslty sold as scrap since the Marines started to use the M1and phased out the 03. As Griff said above they were demilled by bending and then later on straightened and sold.

One thing for certain is the USMC didn't put that barrel on that receiver. If they did, they would have put the hatcher hole on it as well. I believe John Beard said any rebuild post 1936 the hatcher hole was installed by the Marines.

It's most likely a demilled barrel.

I don't think it was demilled TE=1 outside looks normal and it is a straight as it can be inside and out so we will never know. Thanks for all comments. I don't think it is a USMC 03'

I believe the receiver started out as a "blank" at Rock Island. Is there a small "o' below the serial number?

Looks like it is missing front and rear sights. With a "collector" mind, I think the fact that it is reparked takes away a little value. Knowing what it will cost to complete the rifle (assuming that is your idea), I would not want to spend more than $350. It will take a couple hundred to get the stock, metal, and sights, or more, depending on what stock and metal. So, how much do you want to spend putting together a refinshed, shooter/parts rifle? My thoughts anyway.
