I was on the way to breakfast this morning and noticed a sign that said Estate Sale, so I turned around and stopped . In the basement there were several ammo cans FULL of .30 Carbine ammo. I estimate that there is about 10,000 rounds most of which is dated Korean War period, LC 53, however it goes back to 1942.. I paid $200.00 for the whole mess!!!

When I was stationed at Kirtland AFB, we could draw M2s and cases of ammo from the USAF armory and go rabbit hunting south of the base, ROCK & ROLL!!!

This is just a SMALL sample!!! Now, I just need to find an M2 Carbine!! I have an nice M1....

Geez, hope you said sorry..... you know for robbing them and all LOL

If you reload 30.06, you can dismantle some of those .30s and make some squib / plinker rounds.

John, I hope you asked them if they had any other US military items. GREAT score for you. I've has a couple of decent ones in my collecting life, but nothing like yours!

John, some of the WWll stuff may have crimped primer pockets. No big deal if you have reloaded mil stuff before.

Yep, some of it is WCC 42-43-44-45 and has crimped primers. Fortunately, most is LC 52-53 and has red sealer primers.. I do not reload and this bunch will last me a LONG TIME>>

Here are some examples..

Great find John. Only Winchester and Western Cartridge Co. made carbine ammo from WW2 through Korea that had crimped primers in the carbine ammo they made. None of the other makers did.

I like the difference in the appearance of the primers. Note that the WCCs and WRAs are dome shaped while the LCs, both 43 and 53 are flat. Interesting.

Mr. Holbrook is one of those fellas who could fall into a vat of pig crap and come out smelling like roses. Nice find.

I hate posts like this. 10,000 rounds for $200? I couldn't have got it in my vehicle fast enough.

John , most of the LC52 had silver primmers , though some did have copper colored ones . The Chinese corrosive LC52 marked ammo has all copper colored primers. If you bought some , pull a sampling and be sure they have a single primer hole and not two.

John, I always knew you were a "M1911 magnet" but looks like you are a "ammo magnet" as well!
