I thought it was odd they made it seem as if the 4th tunnel was unknown, I guess maybe it was just the wording. It is great that they found it though. Amazing what humans can do if they have the will or need.

Thanks for posting Red. I think to really appreciate what those guys did you have to read the books.
Another side to the Great Escape story thats not as well known is the Brit's pursuit of those responsible for the murder of the 50 recaptured escapers.
In post war Germany investigators conducted something like 250,000 interviews. Scared one guy so bad that he fled into Russia to get away from the Brits.
Ultimately they tried, convicted and hung about 18 surviving individuals who had a direct hand in the murders.

Jim

It said it was "rumored", not really known for sure.

Hmmm, considering the POW's had said there was a 4th I wouldn't have called it rumored. But hey, it's the media so I am sure rumored sounds more interesting.

One of my favorite movies of all time. As a kid I had a Steve McQueen poster with him on the motorcycle up on my bedroom wall..."Hiltz, cooler - 30 days"

Eddie Izzard does a great bit of comedy about the great escape (the movie) Lots of F-bombs and he is a British transvestite (crossdresser) with ADD. So, be forewarned.
