I can't see the pics right now but whatever they did, it was done for the following reasons.

#1. destroying the value of a perfectly good gun was seen as a "money saver".
#2. they are sure they are much more smarter than those eggheads with their massive budgets, knowledge, experience and factories. Therefore they can surely make the gun better, usually with a hacksaw and hand drill.

Looks rediculus, not bubba, gun shop (evidently) shortened to 16" barrel and wood bands etc.. still military looking.

And did they change the rear sight?
Uhg, another "Tanker" rifle I guess.
Ofcourse, you can buy a nice new hunting rifle for the same as a sportered 1917. A fool and his money...

i like it as well, nothing wrong with a carbine length bolt gun, i built a Carbine 1903, they have {tanker} Garands, destroyer carbines ect, why not a 17 Carbine??how many thousands of them are floating around with nasty barrels, cut down stocks ect,
like the idea, and if you wanted to put it back...stock set, and a barrel, your back in bus,.

I like it to. Wouldn't do that to a good rifle myself. If they wanted $200 and I had the cash I would consider buying it.

I would think that after a couple of rounds through it, the "I like it" crowd might change their collective minds. Muzzle flash/noise factor probably ranks right up there with a 105 howitzer.

I own a 44 Mosin Nagant without the benefit of a muzzle break. Something you don't want to shoot without earplugs and earmuffs both. This 1917 can't be any worse.

chuck, the "destroyer carbine" uses a pistol cartridge.

yea,,,if you shoot in in a rifle, doesnt that make it instantly a rifle round?? if i shoot a .308 rifle in a pistol??does that make it a pistol round??lol..
apples and oranges..
i built a Remington XP 100 in .458X2 years ago..still a pistol,,that was shooting a rifle round..
the M1 Carbine shoots a pistol round as well, as does many other Carbine rifles...

And that's why you are wrong....LOL I'm sure the extra recoil would warrant cutting the butt off and addition of a top quality slip on buttpad too...LOL Oh well, it's already ruined now anyways.

i wouldnt like to own it, but would love to see the muzzle flash from it lol

Recoil will be a little more than typical, but not an issue. Muzzle blast and fireball will be righteous, especially for night use. Woods handling would be superb. Yep, I like it.

I have a M1 Tanker in 30-06 . It's not that bad. Also have a Smith brake I sometimes put on it , still not bad.
Now , my 1919A4 with a 10 inch "stumpy " bbl , that's another story.

brother cut down a 1917 Enfield years ago, into a short carbine that he used for years as a farm rifle/deer gun. At the time they were around $100.00 or less & a Win mod 70 was $190.00 & a Rem 700 was just as high. He didn't mind skinning up an old surplus rifle on the tractor or in the truck, many fine surplus rifles were modified years ago.

I assure you, a 105 would be more quiet LOL. Other than that I kinda like it too!
