View Full Version : Mojo Sights on a Mosin-Nagant
Has anybody tried one of those click-adjustable Mojo peep sights on their M-N? I'm wondering if it would be worth the price to put one on my 91/59.
I put the MO Jo sight on a Mauser and it did improve my ablity to shoot the thing. The sight held zero for me and I am pleased with it. It was a Yugo Mauser.
What's the price?
About $80 for just a rear sight.

I have one of those. The original sight sits so low that I can barely see the front sight over the wood. I'm thinking the Mojo would be a better fix than sanding down the stock. I can always put the original sight back on the rifle.
Here's a set of MOJO sights on my Swedish Mauser 96. I have to say that I shoot the M96 more now than ever, thanks to these sights.

How difficult is it to install an after-market front sight on a Yugo Mauser or M-N?
I really like the way your Mojo sits up high on the your Mauser.
As I recall, from packaging to on the gun was less than an hour. I'm a slow study, by the way. On my M96 Swede the front sight sits proud left and right of the original metal, but a file followed by a cold blue would amend that. I simply don't worry about it. It was paramount to me that the sights be totally reversible - able to return the gun to original configuration - and they are. FYI...I also wanted MOJO sights for my Persian Mauser. Turns out the front sight on that model is permanent, therefore I needed only to order a rear sight from the MOJO folks. I center the orig front sight post within the rear MOJO aperture. Works well also.
Thanks, Liam. I think I'll stick with the original (as delivered is probably the more accurate term) front sights with my Yugo and M91/59, but the Mojo rear sights are definitely under consideration.

Hello,
Your message here showed up in the daily Google digest I get.
Before I got to working on the stock sights to make something better, I asked around about Mojo sights. Folks recommended against them for every reason from price to peep sights being too far forward to the sight falling apart. I have no firsthand experience with them, but their experiences dissuaded me from trying them.
The best thing you can do yourself is to knock off the front sight and replace the pin with a nail. It will give you plenty of precision and if you make sure the nail tip is about 0.325" higher than where it exits the sight pin hole, you will be right on with 147 grain "light ball" surplus.
Not expensive and gives what I consider a much improved sight picture over the stock sight (nail is skinnier) while maintaining your field of view.
With a sight post measuring 0.060" at the tip, I can hold about 1.2 MOA average with handloads.
Just my opinion and your mileage may of course vary!
Regards,
Josh
