View Full Version : Venezuelan SKS?
Anyone got info on this. Hugo "I'm not crazy" Chavez had a meeting with his good buddy Mahmoud "Nukes? What nukes?" Ananimenejihad.
During the official photo op, there was an honor guard behind the two clowns. It appeared that they carrying SKS rifles. They did not look to be chrome, just worn out and polished. I could not think of any other rifle it could be as they had the flip up bottom mounted spike bayonet and typical Russian style sight hood. I never got a good view of the complete rifles though.

Sir, might they have been FN49s? The FN49 was the Venezuelan service rifle for a while, and at a quick glance, it could be mistaken for an SKS.
Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

I don't recall any FN-49 variant with a folding bayonet. I have an Egyptian and a friend had one of the 308 Naval versions....
Yep, these definitely had the SKS style spike and front sight. I'm sure they were SKS. Just wondering if the government used them in large quantities at any time and what is the origin of their rifles. China? Russia? Yugo?

Don't know but could they have been part of the Iranian detail and SKS's are common there. Plus they bought billions on COMBLOC weapons in 2011.
