Another "Howdy, Ya'll"...

New member here from Georgia. I'm hoping to learn a lot from this site, and from what I've seen so far I don't think that's going to be a problem. Hopefully I can contribute some along the way too.

Right now I only have one M1....a CMP Service Special Garand. I intend to add a Carbine and an M1a to my collection. I've had examples of each in past years, but foolishly traded them off for something else that struck my fancy at the time. I know I'm starting way late in life, but I plan to shoot some Service Rifle and High Power events....winning or losing isn't really a primary concern, learning and developing (redeveloping) skills are. For the last few years, all I've really done is long distance precision shooting with a bolt gun and lots of just recreational target shooting with several different platforms (from a bench), as well as hunting.


Anyway, I'm happy to be here and looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Welcome aboard. I've learned more about the guns and collecting here in the last 7 or 8 years than I learned the previous 40. Glad to have another one in the GA camp. If you're every around Savannah give me a call and we'll get together and shoot either the bull or bullets.

Savannah is one of my favorite cities. My wife and I usually spend a week down there at least once a year. Are there any CMP shoots or anything like that in the area?

We've got a GNR 100 yard unsupervised range here and that's about it except for 4 indoor ranges. I have to go to Brusnwick to do any CMP type shooting. There is a private club that has a 300 yard range but I've not been able to get to it yet to check it out. It's about 30 miles away and has funky hours for visitors. Hope you can do better there.
