Is Bobby Hoyt/ Frieschutz Rifle Shop still in business?

I want to reline the barrel on my 1861 and have not been able to make contact.

Mark,

As far as I know he's still in business. Sometimes you have to let the phone ring for quite a while as he is a one man shop. Here's the contact information I've got for him. He doesn't do e-mail.

I've been trying to get him these last four days to no affect. I will, however, keep trying. I've been calling just before 7:00 AM and then during the day as circumstances allow.

Wish me luck!

I've had the rifle most of my adult life. Got it with my dad when I was about 10, now I'm 56. The bore is gone and it is without sights. I've always wanted to fix it up and now I have the opportunity, besides, I like restoring old, abused weapons to shooting condition.

Thanks for the suggestion tho!

Regards,

Mark

besides I'm presently working on my Dad's Win1906 .22, that he learned to shoot on, then taugth my brother & I.

Was having 2nd thought about relining the barrel, when Igot lucky on Gunbroker. for what appears to be a GOOD replacement original.

Google "the Log Cabin" store in Lodi, Ohio. all they do is muzzleloading, Dan the owner may direct you elswhere but you'll get GOOD info.

Mark,

You could try Whitacer's. I've never had any work done by them myself but there are other skirmishers who use them.

I managed to connect with Bobby Hoyt this morning. This weekend (if not sooner) I'll wave goodbye to my musket barrel as I ship it off. Bobby is pretty busy, I'll have it back in the spring.

Patience being a virtue I intend to exercise it....

Mark,

I've had trouble getting an answer at his shop also. What does he charge to reline a reproduction barrel like that?

Thanks

Whitacre made up my match Zouve rifle barrel. He does SUPER nice work and is very reasonable and fast. I would send to him in heartbeat.

just got my '63 sharps barrel back, wonderful job of streching it out and relining to rifle length, cost was 200 including shipping. I now only use Bobby, and always ask the price first which always seem to be very fair, if you use Whitacre, ask the price before you have the work done, which is a good idea no matter who is doing the work.
