A friend has a pre 10 M&P that we are wanting the ship date on. If someone here would be so kind? SN C6011x It is a 4" blue in a gold box, if that is any help.

My reference states: 1948-1951 C1 to C223998. It also notes the gold box is perhaps the most readily identifiable and collected S&W box.

I do thank you for the info sir. It is appreciated. As for the factory letter, something in my Eastern European ancestry (possibly Yiddish) makes it hard to let go of the Shekels. Hee, hee
