They'll need all of that and more judging by the way the police
shoot at my range. Most of them couldn't hit the side of a barn - from the inside !

Reminded me of WACO. Those ATF agents on the roof of the building shooting into the dormer and supposedly killed by Koresh's people had "special ammo" Oddly enough, the bullets recovered from the bodies disappeared shortly thereafter. More likely since they were on both sides of the wood dormer, the bullets went through both walls and they shot each other.

Gee, you've noticed that too? When the local gendarmerie shoot at my home range, the safest place is, I swear, in front of the firing line... between Officer Fyfe and the target frames.

I've always been able to outshoot the constables. Be it bullseye or silhouette. The exception being a few suburban cops and always the State Police. ISP must go through a much more comprehensive training regiment than anyone else around here and it shows. They aren't as cockey nor loudmouthed and their proficiency speaks volumes for itself.

Guy from north of here murdered his wife & ended up on one of our main highways shooting at truckers (wounded 2) going in the opposite way. 2 of our troopers disabled his vehicle & he got out with a semi AK47 & engaged our troopers (.40S&W Glocks) in a gunfight that quickly ended up with him dead of multiple hits & 1 trooper injured by glass fragments from his patrol car's windows.Figured it was a "suicide by police officer" case.

All of our people now have their choice of a USGI M14 or an M16A2 (along with a Rem 870 riotgun they already had) for their patrol cars.Younger officers chose M16's, old hands drew M14's.

Sometimes you guys crack me up.

OK, OK.

First 5 years of ammo won't necesssarily be used in 5 years. Uncle Sugar dosen't buy until he gets short. Also, all practice ammo is service ammo which in .40 S&W was Rem. 155 gr JHPs in 50 rd. "Law Enforcement Boxes" when I was in back in the day. Not cheap but worth it.

Every ICE officer gets 150 rounds for for practice/carry and expends 60-100 additional rounds a quarter in practice and qualification, that's about 200-250 rounds every three months. How do I know??? I used to get it. That's 1,000 rounds per each agent give or take, more or less per year. The Border Patrol alone has 12,000 agents. That dosen't count Customs, INS interior enforcement 40 S&W which is just about everybody who carries a pistol. The total of those folks alone more than equals the number of Border Patrol Agents, and that dosen't count everyone in law enforcement in DHS who isn't in ICE and that's a bunch.

That means the "Patrol" alone issues 12,000,000 rounds of ammo a year, 60,000,000 in 5 years and that's just one of many DHS agencies. Do the math. A lot of ammo to you ain't a lot of ammo to the 'gubmint.

By the way, I have never run into a Border Patrol, or ICE agent who isn't at least a good shot, could be a reason for that.

Cost of border enforcement guys.

Oh, I expended all that ammo and it was fun :banana100:. Made me a MUCH better shot too :icon_salut:

it is amazing what cranking a few rounds off frequently does to make you a better shot.
