Colt Commando

Just received the colt archive letter on my Commando. It was one of 20 shipped in July 1943 to the Submarine division, Atlantic Ave. in Boston. All the other letters I ever got had the weapon as 1 of 1000 shipped to a commandant somewhere, so is there anything special about this revolver ?

yes sir, it adds value considerably on this pistol. Post this on the 1911/service pistol board here, Scott G, JohnHalbrook & JohnnyPeppers hang out there. Put some pix with it if at all possible. Those 3 are extremely knowledgeable collectors/experts on US service sidearms......a coupla others there do okay too. Congrats on picking up a neat one.

Are you able to post the serial number, or at least a close approximation? Also, 2 inch or 4 inch barrel?

Serial # 14100, 4" barrel. Photos in the other forum by midweek.
