View Full Version : The Dictator
I don't go to theaters much but I can't wait for this to come out on video.
Sacha Baron Cohen plays an evil dictator who visits New York city. He is then kidnapped, has his trademark beard shaved and is left with no ID. From there, he must work his way up from nothing.

He gives nut cases a bad name.
Now the Charley Chaplin movie , "the great dictator" is quite another story.
I would say it probably is the usual story about the bad person learning a valuable lesson. However, Cohen's charachters never seem to change or learn a lesson. I loved the comments about him being racist and prejudiced for portraying middle easterners as cruel. He plays a cruel dictator, where do they want him to be from. Ofcourse the same people had no problem with the white charachter who expects him to destroy the Empire State building or the white tourists who think he wants to blow up the Statue of Liberty.
I liked him back when he was on HBO but felt the movie versions of Ali G and Borat were not as good as they were on the TV show. I didn't see Bruno because I never thought the gay charachter was very funny. This, I am hoping will be what I expect it to be, a good jab at cruel self absorbed @$$!@$%s who oppress their own people.
