Anyone else see the original 1970s movie The Killer Elite? I was unsure about seeing the new movie Killer Elite as it got some terrible reviews and sounded like it was all action, no plot or the exact opposite depending who was commenting.

I really enjoyed the 1970s movie. It stars a few guys I can't remember as the bodyguards and Robert Duvall as the assassin. I enjoyed the story but had a few problems with some of the weapon choices, but then again, CIA in the 70s, the overuse of the UZI might be right on.

It did have the worst gun mistake I have ever seen on film though as the entire front half of one of the UZIs was upside down in a couple of seens. Guess their dummy gun broke.

They are not strictly an original and a remake. The new one is supposedly a true story about SAS being targeted in the 90s by terrorists. The original is about CIA assasins/bodyguards trying to kill/protect an asian political activist.

Anyone seen both and care to comment?

The original was superior in every way and is one of my favorite James Caan movies. The new one has little resemblance in plot and is only slightly better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

The new one seemed to be based on the first one as far as a very basic model but I haven't seen the new one as I said. THANKS, I could not remember James Caan.

I will say, I had no interest in seeing the movie and had never heard of it but it showed up on cable and I watched about 30secs of it and had to give it a chance and it kept getting better. Not realistic in allot of ways, but a good story and good acting and a total "Guy movie".

The short guy that drives the "cab" is an actor I really enjoy. His character reminded me allot of folks I have served with in the military. they seem dumb and "Slow" but it is because they take time to think and they are more capable than they appear.
