really hard trigger

I've got a type 99 that I have started shooting after having it in the closet for several years. Not a bad looking rifle for what it is. Definitely not a collector though. Has the complete stock, metal lost most finish, barrel and rifleing good, aerial sights, and about a fifteen pound trigger that is really stiff.

Anybody got any ideas on making the trigger pull less painful. Any drop in the pull weight would be appreciated.

I know very little about jap rifles, and nothing about their triggers.

Well, you could take the action out of the stock and clean and lube everything (especially the trigger assembly), and clean the bolt parts also. See if that makes any difference.

Some of them are just that way my brother has one crazy heavy trigger weight of the whole rifle wont set it off.

Japs are notorious for heavy trigger pulls. I've had them up to 18 pounds! I'd clean it first and, if that doesn't work, buy another trigger in the hope that it will be better. I have put a Huber Concepts in one particular rifle that shot MOA groups but was in very good condition. They run about $100 at Midway; are easy to install and are adjustable down to just above a "hard stare". Of course, if yours is a typical run of the mill and not a collectible, then you probably don't want to spend that kind of dough. Make sure you know the Arsenal, series and serial number before you get rid of it. There are some out there in very poor shape, but are extremely collectible due to their pedigree!
