Hey Gang! Found what I really consider my first Bannerman yesterday. Probably won't buy it. It had an "1884" lock plate, w/ a very early 1873 hammer, could have been from an 1861, not sure. Stock looked like a very rough Cadet w/ short comb(will measure). The part that caught my eye was the serial # 10,556(not starred). That is the lowest I have physically had my hands on. Any one have info on this one, dealer wanted $495. Also looking for info on my 1873 rifle I bought post SRS #65780, made in 1876. Truly appreciate the help. THX SKIP

That may not have been a bad buy if the barrel was nice. Some of the Bannerman's had multi groove new barrels on them. The price is in the "SHOOTER" range.

Musketshooter- I'm still not sure didn't even look at the bore. Still trying to research. But, I will measure the comb, and look hard at the bore now. THX SKIP

Quite a price difference since Bannermans originaly sold them for $1.50

And NO, the decimal point IS in the right place;)

I once had one of their OLD catalogs.

You could also buy a 12pd Napoleon for $350 and the limber for another $250. Of course plus shipping:D

yes sir, those catalogs are the stuff that dreams are made of. my uncle used to tell us tales of going into bannerman's store and seeing swords and bayonets for sale stuck in the floor.
i wonder if someday those bannerman builds will have a collector's catagory all of their own.

No one knows, but it must have quite a few since they were advertised nationally. Frasca's TD book has several ads from different firms advertising these. I have one of each 45-70 and 50-70. Quite a mixture of salvaged parts.
