A friend of mine is looking at a No. 4 Mk. I, matching parts in excellent condition. Ballpark idea of value?

TIA!:icon_salut:

I only have one savage. I picked it up at the last OGCA here in Ohio. Mine is all savage with a MM bolt. The rifle is 60C70XX and the bolt is 60C45XX. I only paid 150.00 for it. It was a "these belonged to my Father-in-law and I'm selling them for my Mother-in-law". He had 200 on it and when I picked it up he said I could have it for 150. That's less than AIM was selling them for a couple of years ago.

I think 300 for an all matching with a good barrel savage would be a fair price. All the parts on mine have a small square S stamped on them. That includes the wood.

I know a guy that has one for sale but he is in Texas getting cancer treatments and won't be back in Dayton till March. I have dibbes on it but I have not seen it yet. He wants 300 for it. If your friend can wait that long I will let you know if I get it. It would be what ever I pay for + shipping.

Hope this helps

Doug

limpetmine posted a link on another website that has military firearms values. The below information is from that site and is based on Enfield No4 MkI* Savage rifles:

$125-250 for Good
$230-375 for Very Good
$350-550 for Excellent

I own four Savage rifles and paid $200 up to $495 for mine. I admit I overpaid on the $495, but I wanted it. As stated many times on various sites and by various people, it all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay.

If it is a No4 Mk1 (and not a Mk1*) then it will fetch a premium over a Mk1*.
Not that many Mk1 made.

Rick, 250 is about right for up here in WA state. Enfields are still the bastard child of milsurps around here.

Good point...If it is indeed a MkI (sans *), then it should fetch a healthy premium over a standard Savage MkI*

How many sans * were made compared to standard #4 MK!*? How much would they go for? Thanks

From SN Prefix 0C to around 13C....or around 130,000 give or take. I have non-FTR'ed "0C" and a "4C" rifles, both Mk.I's with all the neat early features! Figure that Savage made around 1.3 million rifles...it's 10% of the Savage-Stevens total. The only one I paid a "premium" for was the 4C, and it was $250 back in the Dark Ages. The "0C" was just another greaseball sitting in a pile of greaseballs on a table at a gunshow for $79!

Savage made a little less than 130,000 No4 MkI in parts of 1941 and 1942. As far as price, I have only seen a couple recently and there was a big gap.

One of them I was going to bid on several months ago but the pics were blurry and the seller would not respond to my e-mails - he was asking $399 or $499 (I cannot remember). The rifle was listed again and he still would not respond to my e-mails until time expired again. He told me it was sold which is why he did not respond. Several weeks later, the same seller posted the same rifle again with new pics and a new price of $899. Since several months have passed, he has dropped it to $799, my only assumption is that he really does not want to sell it or is waiting for a sucker!

The other one sold recently for under $350 (inc shipping) and is in better shape.

Assuming a No4 MkI* in excellent condition if you can find one $350-400. A nice matching rifle can be found for $250ish. I just picked up a nice 1* Savage, matching with LB rear sight and locking bolt for $200.
