How do you identify specific manufacturer butt plates? I've never seen a stamp on any of mine. Thanks!

mediatech13,

There are some marked buttplates.

Standard Products...S-S3
Irwin Pedersen........IP-PM, PM-IP
Saginaw S'G'...........PM-S'G'

The others are recognized by their checkering and diamond patterns.

If you don't have the CC newsletters, you can spend about $20 and get;
U.S. M1 CARBINES, WARTIME PRODUCTION edition 5 or 6 by Craig Riesch
Starting on page #105 it talks about and shows pictures of buttplates.

Just remember there are mistakes it all books, none are 100% correct.
