View Full Version : Movement between Upper / lower?
Is some free play between the upper and lower assembly normal? I just received my first AR. It's a Colt SP1 and I notice a certain amount of wiggle between the two.
Some of our M16s had a lot of movement between the upper and lower receivers and it didn't seem to affect them. I wouldn't worry about it in a "sporter" AR.
Normal. Annoying but normal. This is what Accu-wedges are made for.
Thanks guys! I may look into Accu-wedges?
Just for your knowledge, Sun Devil Manufacturing out of Mesa,AZ has designed and patented their lower receivers to prevent this. They have amazing quality lowers. I have one and can't wait to get another.
Get an Accu-Wedge (cheap fix). Most manufacturers' OEM AR's are better now than they used to be on that issue. But it can still come up if you're attaching Brand A's upper to Brand B's lower. The loose feeling definitely affects the mind but the rifle still shoots what you put the front sight on if the rear is dialed in.
