View Full Version : Little help with the model of this rifle???
Bought this rifle from a buddy that was in need of some cash. At the time I had no idea about the make or model. I have researched the net and I believe it to be a Lee Enfield.... still havent seen another one just like it. I was hoping that yall could help me out.... I found some of the markings on the web site that brought me here. It seems to be British... Any other info on this rifle would be great.
A close-up of the left side of the receiver and the buttsocket would help in identifying it.

Its a sporterised No1 MkIII*. Possibly a 1940s Dispersal rifle, judging by the "N" prefix.
Hi Joey, I feel bad that you've gotten such a short reply, what you're on the verge of discovering is that enfields are an awesome rifle full of character and fun to own on many levels. Part of it is the classic looks, that they shoot so well plus they made enough different models, all of which have sprung from the same handsome DNA, that they quickly become really interesting;
Here's a link site to most of the major enfield related websites, it could use a little updating but its pretty good, you could get lost in there;

It appears to be a No1 Enfield that has been sporterized. It does have a nice stock and fore-end on it and some kind of peep sight. A lot of these were sporterized in the 50's and 60's, yours appears to be well done.
Thanks again fellow. Haven't shot it yet... read a ton on the rifle, and enjoying the history leason.

Hi KTK,
I've just noticed your comments here about this other 'money' website of mine, and I owe you and readers an explanation, plus if there's some way enfielders are being directed to something other than enfield resource then its a mistake, so I might need a little clarifying help to fix it.
Moderator; This is really OT, but can you leave this up just long enough so that KTK and readers can be assured there's nothing improper about enfieldresource.com?

I'm unclear on a couple of points;
*There's no way to register for enfieldresource.com. There's no means to do it, and nothing to register for, all of the links are 100 percent available to any visitor, always have been.
*I do own a string of lame home business websites with this and similar names, none of which I can find on any of my site web pages, so there's NO promotion of this kind involved with enfieldresource.
There may have been temporarily about a year ago, may have been, I'm not certain, but I guarantee there is none now. If you get to enfieldresource by using your favorites button, it can bring up the web pages that existed at the time you made the favorite, its a known internet hiccup. If you go to the site via a different search engine, now you'll get the new pages. You need to erase the old favorite and make a new one to get past this.
*If you follow the E/R front page link to a new part of the website, 'photo profiles', now take a look at the url. It changes from enfield resource to http://youstarreview.com. The explanation is a simple one; I'm a hobbyist with no income and can't afford the annual fee for web hosting so I use Godaddy's system, whereby if you register a webname, you get a 5 page website for free. I registered enfield resource and used those free 5 pages. To make the site bigger I made another free 5 page website from another web name, and linked them together, so now we have 10 pages for enfield stuff, that costs me only the annual fee of registering the name enfieldresource and is otherwise free.
I have been one of a million dummies trying to make a living on the internet seeing as I am now in involuntary retirement, hence I registered a string of web names pertaining to web businesses. Some are somewhat operational, most are not worth the paper they're printed on. None are connected to EnfieldResource.
Hope that helps.
I wish it did make money! lol, that would be a huge help.
So I can shoot a 303 cart. For this rifle?
