Need alittle help, please

I bought what looks to be a correct 1945 Remington Rand. Unfortunatly its has been refinshed(blued) Since it doesnt really have a Collector value I plan on shooting it occasinally.
Anything I should do to help protect this old war horse?
I planned on replacing the recoil spring, 16 lb ?
Anything else?

When John Browning designed the pistol he included everything the pistol needed, including a recoil spring of approximately 16#.

Agreed. A lot of guys talk about swapping springs. I've never had to change one in an old military .45 to make her shoot. I'd keep the pistol just like it is and give it a try. Chances are good it will function just like it did when it was new.
