I'm not a helmet collector but the liner sure looks British/Commonwealth to me.

Just for fun, has anyone ever seen a British Fire Watcher's helmet?
Same pattern as the ones worn when the Black Prince kicked the stuffing out of the french, excspt they are painted.
When they made a movie about that, they simply stripped off the paint and used it for the men at arms.
Wartime economy, the chinstrap was a SHOELACE;)
By the way, going by the pics, the rubber pad in the top and the liner are the same as my Brit helmets.
That's a British style liner. The U.S. liners were leather.

Hi John,
Read your post, thought I had some thing similar and went down to the basement and pulled these out. The one middle centre similar to the one of which you speak? Also threw in a couple of others to keep you guessing and an M1 for your viewing pleasure.
Funny thing was I thought I posted this before I went to bed. But it's not here this morning.

Hi Ken, is the first in the backrow a Danish one ?

Well let's give this a try. If it shows, it'll be a shot of the "Helmet wall" in my gun room.

Ken, no they are not fire watchers helmets. The Fire Watcher's top slopes gently down to the brim, not as sharply as the military one The liner is secured to the helmet by another shoelace that actualy weaves in and out of the metal to hold the liner. There is NO rubber head pad and no means of fixing one in any case. The crown is also visibly higher. My only other civillian helmet is a Warden one which is identical to the military hemet except for the black paint and the large white W on the front..
Also have a blue POLICE helmet of the later "turtle shell" pattern. Unfortunately I am rather lacking on the chin straps.
Just for grins I also have two respirators (gas masks for babys.) You literaly put the kid INSIDE it and there was an air pump on the side. No doubt some of our older British friends will remember them.;) Also have a civillian mask that you see folks carrying around with those little cardboard boxes. One item I am missing is the "Mickey Mouse" respirator they gave to younger children.
Not USGI with that headliner as mentioned by another poster but closely resembles an Israeli helmet I once had, which I believed were hand me downs from the British? It also had elastic sections on the ends of the chinstrap Regards, Roadawg
By info from internet web sight. Canadian WW2 issue
CL/C...Id like to know what the other helmet is, the OD green I posted also

The one with the camo liner is a newer Canadian Forces one, is that the one of which you speak?

Hi Ken,
yes it is this one. It is even the same or very similar to the danish camo wich i prefered in some countrys abroad. Here is a pic of the danish Princess Mary, wich is a lieutenant in the danish army.
Best regards
