awesome pics, iv been sharing the pics of the black troops with a good friend of mine,,he served, and is suprised to see pics of the men of color,
honestly, he is on eof the most patriotic men i know, interesting imput,, when i first met the man, being a redneck whiteguy, first thing i saw was the color of his skin,,,
now,
i dont even see it,, just my friend with lots of great stories, and awesome BBQ...best damn BBQ in town.. when i drive by his BBQ stand sometimes in the morning, before he even fires the smoker,,i see he has old Glory up , iv learned more about myself after becoming his friend a few years ago.....ill send these great pics to him in the morning..

Look at the first photo the guy with the german helmet, and to his right, their 1917's have canvas receiver covers.... today a very rare item.

Strangely enough, I have been able to find more pictures of the M1917 with Black troops than with White troops.
Dont know why, maybe its because of the push for Black heritage or maybe its because back then, they tended to put the Blacks in support jobs instead of front-line positions so they ended up with secondary rifles.

In WW1, many American black troops served with the French.
