I was given a 91/30 rifle that has a reciever built by Westinghouse and dated 1915. I do not know if there ever was a finish to the metal, but does not appear to have any. The bolt does not match but the barrel looks good, so I am going to take it to a local gunsmith and see if the head space is okay. There is also no cleaning rod, so I hope that it is a pretty common item to come across. It was strange though to see a westinghouse here in the NW corner of NM. It was given to me by a Navajo friend who said it belonged to his grandfather. I am just happy though to finally see a rifle that I have only read about. I' ll try pictures if anyone wants to see them.
