Hello to all!!!!
We are so happy to be home it is unreal. We are sorry to put all of you through the last few months.
Things are not finished around here. There is much work to be done.
You have no idea what it was like not going to the real CSP, no control, having some of you banned for no good reasons.
You can bet things will be as it was on CSP before we made a bad move.
I do have to thank Milsurp for letting us use the site until I got this one running.
One thing you all have to do is thank Pat AKA SYSAD, if not for her hard work we would not be up this fast.
Also thank all of you that donated to the "Culver Fund" that allowed us to buy our own server, and this software. We couldn't use the old style as it is not for sale any longer, plus we would have to put up with the spam trash, and the trash that placed it on the boards. I have a very "GOOD" idea who was up to putting it on the boards.
I hit the roof when I read that Dick were going to step down and turn CSP over to someone else and we would be in the back ground, and both of us are well into our 70's!! FLASH... I am no where near being close to being 70!!!
Nor have we forgotten to pay for the domain name it is paid up for many years. We will never allow this to happen again or turn CSP over to strangers.
All the rules are the same as they were before. Most of you know them by now.
I just hope you all enjoy being home. Sorry but this software comes with it's own skins (Colors).
Please keep in mind this is now a work in progress. We will be working on it till everything works as it should.
We love you all, and thank you for being good friends. Please thank Pat, if anyone needs donations it is her. This is her work, she is helping me. If you wish to donate I will send you her address.
Love and best to all,
Dick and Gloria XOXOXOXO
Welcome back Dick and Gloria! I hope all is well, health wise, with you both. Nina Michaels introduced me to the Culver Shooting Page back in 1998. I was never interested in owning a computer until I saw your website. I never knew there was that much information out there on the web. I bought a computer that week and have been a regular CSP visitor since then.
Thank you and thank you to SYSAD (Pat-OFC) for all of your hard work. I have just enough knowledge about I.T. to know this is not "plug and play"!

Glad to hear from you guys again. Definitely missed you. Please send me Pat's address I'll be glad to help out a little.

Many Thanks to YOU, The Culvers, for providing us with this site. Thanks to Pat AKA SYSAD, as I know there has been a lot of hard work put into bringing CSP back as close as possible to its old self. Gloria I would appreciate an address so that I can contribut for PAT.
While I really appreciate the MILSURP staff for keeping most of us in contact, I was perturbed a few days ago, and had to bite my tongue to keep from making a fool of myself. I had already begun to skip going to their site daily. I will continue (at least for a while) to access the MILSURP site, but my loyalties are here!

Well Gloria:
It's so good to be back home again . . . in more ways than one. I don't wish to speak ill of our MilSurps.com hosts, as I feel they did their best to run the interim Culver Shooting Page as you directed. For one thing, it allowed us a rendezvous point, while awaitng the return of the real site. For that I'm thankful. However, it wasn't the same thing as CSP, but I'm not sure why; folks didn't feel like posting, I guess. Besides wanting a M1917 forum, what about the Culver Tales? They going to return?
As for SysAd--Pat--thank you for all you've done to get this forum up and running; we do, most certainly, thank you for everything you've done.

I don't know what it was except for intuition; but I never liked the other place. I thank them for whatever help they were, but it is a cold and sterile place to me. And they have "nannying" down to a fine art. If it works for them, so be it.
Dick and Gloria's brand of hospitality fits me better than any I have seen.
I wish I knew more about those "knives in the back". Us Scots might like to carry grudges.

Dick and Gloria and Pat.
As Brother McLarty has noted above it's JUST GREAT to be back.Larry's use of the word"STERILITY" is an apt description of my own feelings towards the temporary site as well.
I am of the opinion too that it was the"laissez faire" attitude that prevailed here previously coupled with a large group of either uneducated or uncaring(I know NOT which) folks who just can NOT be told to do anything.Namely; DO NOT CLICK ON SPAM BECAUSE IT ONLY BRINGS MORE SPAM !!Well sports fans ,we all saw what happened didn't we ?Dick and Gloria being laid up in that HoJo in Post's Falls further aggravated the situation.
I am glad that our donations have been put to good use buying an up to date server and this hopefully SPAMMER PROOF software with the log on under ONE name feature. That too should alleviate a previously much abused problem.
Hopefull this new sofware has a"ROMPER ROOM" cloaca maxima somewhere too.
Dick and Gloria and Pat,THANK YOU FOR GETTING CSP BACK ON LINE AND RUNNING AGAIN.Now PLEASE crank up the CSP"Shopper" so we can see who wants to sell what.I sort of went over to the"Dark Side"as it were and bought TWO M1 Carbines and need some bits to put them back to rights.
Cheers,
JR
I have thanked Badger and told him that he did his part, but that was a cultural divide. This reminded me of the stories my Uncle used to tell about how the young bomber crews and the English couldn't relate.

I'm like a puppy getting his belly scratched....I have to sit down as my tail is awaggin!! Thanks for returning and offering your time/talents to a grateful forum. best greg :)

Gloria & Dick,
Thank you for 'adopting' such an odd lot of unwashed hooligans as us! It is nice to have a 'home' again.

Wow,this is a nice surprise.
Great to be back and many thanks to Mr & Mrs Culver for purchasing this new house for us to play in,and to Pat for helping to make it work. It feels like a big family reunion.:D
Also would like to extend a big thanks to Badger, his wife and the various moderators on Milsurp for stepping in and helping out. I thought they were a great host and to let us all into their playground while ours was closed was a generous offer indeed.
It's so good to see this again!
Dear Gloria,
I am very happy you and the Major are back in charge! Pat too! And the new board looks cool. I like OD. :D
Its go to be back. Will the last person leaving the Milsurps site, please turn out the lights.
WELCOME BACK DICK AND GLORIA (CSP)!! I know I've missed you guys and this form!!!
So glad to have you all back. I missed the old place.

Dick and Gloria, How hard it was on us?Puleeze, we know how hard it must have been on you!We are soooo proud you were able to make it back. As I said in my initial post[and ALL GIs and Gyrenes will know] ,It's like putting on an old pair of field boots. No garrison eye wash here! Thanks for all you do and have done, Nick
Thanks Dick and Gloria,
I was grateful that Milsurps took over the old forums, but the site is very very slow and the atmosphere was stifling, sort of like (pardon the expression, Dick) boot camp with everyone playing "gunny."
Thanks again,
Jim Keenan
Being able to sit down and read the logo at the top of the page again just seems like when you first get home from a long vacation. The relaxed feeling of your favorite chair, favorite jeans, faithful dog your side. This just feels like home! Again thanks so much and it's so good to see all the names here again...........Dick S.

Gloria - Dick:
The internet wasn't the same without you two! Appreciate Milsurp for their consideration, but it wasn't the genuine article! Great to have you back!
Lurked on the old CSP every day(night actually) during breaks and lunchtime. Was afraid of infecting the work computer so didn't participate. The move to milsurps did introduce me to this posting thing, so now I'll try some back at "home"! I still don't own a computer though....keep giving them away to the local charity 'cuz they keep me away from actually DOING stuff.

landtrain, and all,
We have the military "Tri-Care West INSURANCE" this is an HMO for enlisted and retired military.
You have 2 choices, Tri care that is free, but you pay the doc, hospital or any medical bills, Or you pay for "Tri-care Prime", You pay a co-pay on meds. Meds are $3-9 dollar co-pay, but have to be generic. for the lower co-pay. Doctor Co-pay is $12.00. $25.00 to $50.00 a day for a hospital,, stay. Sounds like a great deal, "Wrong". Problem is, a doctor has to subscribe to tri-west's enrollment, it takes months for a doctor to be accepted. You can't go to the doc you want, unless you want to pay over 50% of the bill, this is even after you have paid into their insurance. Tri West will pick a doc for you. You may have to drive 40 or more miles, or, to another state within 40 miles from your home. If you need to see a lets say ortho doc for a broken leg or problems with back, you need to have the doc they picked for you called your "Primary Doctor", you have to spend a co-pay to get this request, they sends request to try- west. They find a doc that is their enrollment, if they can find one. You have little choice. It may be a day to weeks.
My problem at the moment is call, best they know, is called neropathy (SP?). I have no feeling in my feet and lots of pain, even more pain walking, no sense of balance. I've seen neuropathology Docs, they have a procedure. That will help or cure. I was Denied by Try-west due to age, and cost (I am not even close to 70 hee hee hee). They have not found a doc that can figure out whats going on. I am on a walker or cane. My Doctor sent a request to Tri-Care, for this procedure. They denied him as well. Cost is to much is what they told him. So I am stuck. My only way to go is, buy outside insurance, and hope that works. This is after paying the Military insurance for a year at a time.
Dick worked in the military for 30+ years :icon_salut:, was told he ans his family would have medical care for life. We see how well that works!!! HMO'S suck!!! I've had this problem for a for a few years now. They don't give a darn if there is a cure, it just costs too much money, live with it!!!
Their Military Car Insurance (USAA) is the same, thats another story. :evil6:
Now tell me "GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE", is the right way to take this country, way to go "Demorats". I can't walk, you don't care, and that the the Military could care less. Wait till the Government gets their into to all of us!!!
No wonder our young enlisted people, that put it all on the line have a health problems, as do their families, they are treated the same!!! :evil6:
I would like to thank our Government (TRI-CARE WEST) thank you for taking care if all of our military personnel!!
There is a bunch more to this story, but it would take all day.
Dick plans to write it "ALL" out for you guys!!!
I will tell you about the military insurance another time. It is a nasty story!!!
landtrain, I hope this kind of answers your question. It is a very complicated story.
Take care,
Gloria
Oh boy, it's good to come home. Thank you Dick and Gloria.

If memory serves me correctly, I joined CSP in the fall of 2003, at the recomendation of Cliff Feiler "CRF", who'd been introduced to me by Bruce Canfield. From that time forward, though I was never a "top ten poster", I was probably among the top 100 readers. Became acquainted with a lot of nice folks, and my desktop shortcut to CSP was used many times some days, and I'm sure well over 40 times a month.
I attempted the migration after CSP's closure, tried to give it the old college try, but it never really clicked for me. I stayed buried in the '03 category, saw many of the same great posters and high quality information, but I always missed the background presence of Dick & Gloria.
I was so used to scanning the old style message threads, and being slow to change, it just didn't grab me. Some things were in fact pretty nice, like posting pic's, but overall it just wasn't me.
But you know how it goes; your car breaks down on a lonely road during a rainy night, folks take you in until your car is fixed, give you a place to sleep and share their food; you don't crab about the lumpy bed, the overcooked liver, and the cramped shower. You don't argue their politics with them either. When your car is fixed and you're leaving, you thank them kindly, head home, and maybe drop them a card at Christmas.
Now that I'm back home, it feels good. -
My best to you both, and to all of the capable and caring folks that have made this new site possible. I hope their are smoother seas ahead for you both.
Best regards,
Paul Walker

Glad to see CSP is back again, though the login was a little bit of a problem as the colors of some of the images were hidden in the background, but two attempts sufficed. Dave_n

Great to have CSP back and you two at the helm. It's been way too long.:icon_salut:
Elated beyond words to know that you, Gloria, and Dick are back ... prayers have been with you. Us 70 year youngsters have even more gratitude that you both have walked through the time machine and come out bright eyed and bushy tailed. Affections from East Coast ... yes there are Conservatives in the Massachusetts Miasma of Mendacity :)
And Dick thought I had not learned the art of verbal jousting from him.
Unlimited affection and best wishes. JK
Just found the new site. Great to have Dick and Gloria back in charge, was worried it might not happen. Cheers to all!
