I'm starting to do some retirement planning, looking at pensions, expenses, etc. So I'm trying to figure out what kind of budget I will have to plan for.

I understand that you get an erection for 4 hours, I was wondering what you did with it for the extra 3 hours and 59 minutes?

Just looking ahead.

LMAO, I have to admit that I have used it. No you don't get an erection for four hours and it is truly a "one shot" deal. Basically have a four hour window, more or less when it works. The stuff is also damned expensive so if you use it a lot bring bucks.

About the four hour erection. If you were, by some miracle, to keep an erection for four hours straight lthe restricted blood flow would damage the restricted area if you get my drift, but that's probably too much information.

As one who had his Prostate ripped out in 2004, it takes an act of congress, and a BIG pill for me to get an erection. When I was going to the VA, they prescribed Lavitra. For $8, got two pills. I thought that was high at the time. Was even higher since they didn't work too well.

When I got on Medicare, they didn't pay for it. The doctor prescribed Cialiais, it cost me $14 per pill. I paid for one prescription of 6 pills but they didn't work too good.

Since that time I have acquired some Viagara and they seem to work better than the other two. But it still was not "Rock Solid" and it didn't last the 4 hours. Often wife will hint around for some "action" but by the time all the preparation is done, it's nap time.

Bottom line, it takes a lot of experimenting and trial and error to find what works best and where you get the most "Bang for your Buck".

As one friend has told me when I describe my situation. At least you are HERE and ALIVE.

had a friend who was diabetic, way over weight, & had the implant put in, he was very satisfied with it, after his wife passed so were 2 strippers from Booneville Mo. Another friend uses the pump & is equally happy. If I needed to, heck I'd take 46 pills, & use both the pump & the implant.

Ken the K, doesn't Canadian Insurance paid for both Viagra or Ciallis.?

Medicare is supposed to pay for it here, hope it does.

Ahhh the recreational drugs for the over 50 set... Yes, I have tried them all.. they all work, but I like Cialis the best.. Good for the whole weekend! Levitra comes in second, and viagra last.

viagra and cialis (the two i know about) both do the same thing but for varying lengths of time...

i asked about it and the Dr told me that he prefers to start patients on Blue Steel because if the side affects are TOO bad, they tend to only last the 4 hours, where as with Cialis youre looking at up to 36hrs of headache, vision issues and the like...

i used ONE and yes it was good for danged near the entire 4 hours. not continuous but as often as i needed it. it works to strengthen and to slightly decrease sensitivity. after my wifes 3rd time, we took showers. she decided to go at me from a different point of view and after 20 minutes, i was still not there...

next time cut one in half, but it didnt do nearly the same as the first full strength tab although i did NOT have the headache...

ill take the headache and a couple of excederin thank you very much...

So, if you take a viagra and it gets caught in your throat, do you end up with a stiff neck?
You not only get the stiff neck but your arms stiffen at right angles to your body and you look like a walking scarecrow.
Note for the frugal minded: When you visit your prostate quack, ask him for samples. They can keep you going indefinitely (well, almost) without spending a dime.

This old man in his eighties got up and was putting on his coat.

His wife said, "Where are you going?"

He said, "I'm going to the doctor."

And she said, "Why? Are you sick?"

"No," he said. "I'm going to get me some of those new Viagra pills."

So his wife got up out of her rocker and was putting on her sweater and he said, "Where are you going?"

She said, "I'm going to the doctor too."

He said, "Why?"

She said, "If you're going to start using that rusty old thing again, I'm going to get a tetanus shot."

Old guy goes to the doctor and gets some viagra. a month later he's back at the doctor.

"How's the viagra working for you?" asks the doctor.

"Just fine," says the old guy. "A half a pill does just what I need."

"Half a pill?" asks the doc. "I never heard of anybody having sex with just half a pill."

"Oh, I don't use it for sex," says the old guy. "I just need to get the thing out far enough so I don't pee my pajamas."

FYI, our special ops Soliders have been using Viagra prior to missions. Increased blood flow goes to all parts of the body and they are getting more endurance and can work longer. (I was going to say they could hump a ruck longer, but that just didn't sound right.)
My Medical Logistics unit couldn't figure out why we were getting requests for Viagra. Once we were told, it made sense and we got a supply in for them.

On a more serious note (or two.) Viagra is an expensive drug and because it's uses are recreational most insurance dosen't cover it. I was having some occassional "difficulties" starting about 5 years ago. Not that regularly but often enough that it was an inconvenience for me and the missus. My doctor put me on 50mg of Viagra which was the middle dose. I was talking to my urologist about that and he wrote me a "script" for 100 mg tablets and told me to cut them in half. Well the 50 mg tabs were costing me $16.00 each ant the 100 mg tabs $18.00 a pill. Not that's simple math even for me! This is especially important since I was diagnosed with a low grade very small prostate cancer last year. Even though I'm young for the "watchful waiting" thing (62) after getting a couple of opinions we decided on that course of action. My urologist put me on Avodart though since it seems to retard prostate tumors. The problem is that Avodart can agrivate the e.d. problem because it works by reducing testosterone levesls which sure has made the $9.00 per pill as opposed to 16 a nice benefit.

Also, if any of you guys are taking a diuretic (water pill) for hight blood pressure, erectile disfunction is almost 100%. I have labile hypertension which means my blood pressure would fluctuate from the low end of normal to the low end of high. My doctor realizing that I was a young(er) guy who was in good condition prescribed a drug called micardis which does not have the sexual side effects of diuretics.

Here's what you have to weigh. Do you want to "watch and wait" until it gets more advanced and you are older, or do you want to do something about it when you are "young(er) and strong(er)"?

My prostate came up when I was 61. I read the doctor's report (later) and it said I was a healthy and strong candidate for the surgery. They weigh that stuff, probably not telling you the full report. Still after the surgery it took me 6 months before I was 90% over it, probably a year before I felt 100%. It's not an operation for someone not capable of overcoming the opening up of your gut.

What I am getting at is stay on this, keep a constant eye on it. Don't wait a year before you get checked again. It can come up fast. I had not had a physical for 4 years and something told me to get one. Numbers had crept up on me. Regular doctor said "slightly enlarged, probably need to see Urologist". Took that doctor 30 seconds to say "you got something". They do a 100 finger waves a day, a general doctor probably 5.

After the surgery he said if I had waited 6 more months, curtains.

Watch and wait? I have a friend who had his PSA test and it came back high. The quack advised him to come back later (a long while later). When he got it checked again it was astronomical and he was advised to see a Urologist. The verdict? "You have prostate Cancer. The Genie was already out of the bottle, so to speak. The Cancer was in his Lymph glands, so removing the prostate would be pointless. Right now its in remission, but he is going through Hell on a regular basis.
I have been going to a Urologist since the early 90s, doing regular exams and blood tests. They have taken biopsies twice when the PSA was high, the test was negative both times. If you take Avodart for an enlarged prostate it will give a false level on the PSA. Its actually twice what is shown.

Art
04-18-2010, 01:03
This is the way it works with me. I have a PSA every three months and I'm supposed to have a biopsy once a year. I'm having one in August which will be 8 months because I don't want to wait a year for the first one. Everything is a gamble. I have done a BUNCH of research though and with a tumor the size of a number 6 shot pellet (they are hardly ever found until they're at least the size of a the size of a BBB shot pellet,) a psa in the 5's and a gleason score of 6 right now it seems reasonably prudent.

Any doctor who askes you to come back for a follow up PSA after a "long while" is not doing his job. If you're going to wait and watch it's a real good idea to watch very closely which is what I intend to do.

They took out the upper 2 lobes of my R Lung on 12/27/99, NSC Lung adneocarcinoma. Wasn't a candidate for radiation. I was clear through 4/6/2000, on 4/26/2000 they found 26 new masses in my L lung &remaining lobe of my R lung. Started chemo, staged @ 4, they gave me 4 months(probable) to 6 months to live (vv lucky).Finshed 2 courses of chemo by Sept 2000, in remission since. Chemo was $16,000 every three weeks, the 4th week off to recoup.

Prayer, good docs, good nurses & good meds work. Take your meds, do what the docs urge, eat right, sleep well & trust in Him. I just might be the longest survivor of adenocarcinoma.

Docs are people too, they can make errors or miss something, but.......... just about every oncologist I know, urges cautionary watch on the prostrate, most cancers there are very very slow growing, & if the nerves are cut during surgery, it's hard to come back from.

They told me that every man will develop prostrate cancer, IF we live long enough.

Listen to them, & pray for His help too. It works.

Oh, I am aware that Avodart artificaially reduces PSA. Takes six months for it to stabilize. I'll have a really good Idea of where I am when I get my June PSA done. And so it goes.

Oh, Gimp, thanks for the words of encouragement.

Wife is a doc - she told me that the "if erection lasts longer than four hours" thing was a marketing thing - it is not really a likely side effect. I understand they considered adding a warning that if it caused erections longer than 14" to see a doctor was considered, but rejected because they thought no one would believe that one.

These pills are indeed expensive, I heard that a shipment was hijacked by a highly organized group of highway pirates. They are still looking for the culprits, and a bulletin has been issued warning to be on the lookout for a group of hardened criminals.....

Seriously - don't mess around with prostate or colon cancer symptoms. If the flow is low, see a doc. Get scoped. My little brother died two weeks ago at 56 - colon cancer that he let go having checked. He was one hell of a guy, he left way too soon.

Thats why I called my friends doc a quack. Waiting for months after seeing a high reading is insane.

I have been getting regular colonoscopy procedures done since the early 90s also.
its only unpleasant to think about. Getting it done is a breeze. Colon Cancer is the one that is painless until its too late. Any man past 50 is at risk. Why take the chance? I would probably be gone long before this had several polyps not been removed.

I have been using Viagra/generic Viagra for years. I got tired of paying the high prices for it, so I looked elsewhere online. I found generic Viagra out of India for WAY less, and it works at least as well as the real stuff. Please see your Doctor first, and get a prescription. THEN, you can go to alldaychemist.com. I split the 100mg tablets. As for side effects, sometimes I get a stuffy nose or a little flushed when it kicks in(with either genuine or generic). I have had no problems with shipping.

Well as a human of the female persuasion I have to say that diamonds don't do a darn thing for me. They are just a colorless hard rock. Viagra

An Irish woman of advanced age

visited her
physician to ask his advice on

reviving her
husband's

libido.

'What about trying

Viagra?'
asked the

doctor.

'Not a chance', she said.

'He
won't even take an

aspirin.'

'Not a

problem,'
replied the

doctor.
'Give him an 'Irish

Viagra'.

It's when you drop the Viagra tablet

into his coffee.
He won't even taste

it.

Give it a try and call me in a week to let

me
know how things

went..'

It wasn't a week later when she called

the
doctor, who directly inquired as to

her
progress.

The

poor dear exclaimed, 'Oh, faith,
bejaysus and

begorrah! T'was horrid!
Just terrible,

doctor!'

'Really? What happened?' asked

the
doctor...

'Well, I did as you advised and slipped it in
his

coffee and the effect was almost immediate.
He

jumped straight up, with a twinkle in his eye
and

with his pants a-bulging fiercely!
With one swoop

of his arm, he sent me cups
and tablecloth flying,

ripped me clothes to
tatters and took me then and

there passionately on
the

tabletop!

It was a nightmare, I tell you,

an
absolute

nightmare!'

'Why so terrible?'

asked
the doctor, ' Do you mean the sex

your
husband provided wasn't

good?'

'Freakin' jaysus, 'twas the best

sex
I've had in 25

years!
But sure as I'm sittin' here, I'll

never
be able to show me face in

Perhaps one day I will need to try it. At this point in my life, my girlfriend (65 years old) always lets me know before bedtime, or during the day, whether she is needy or not. At 73, I have not been in need of pill assistance, YET. My EX had every intent of remaining a NONE (pun intended) after the 2 kids, and that as one of the contributing factors to the divorce.

Sorry for keeping this thread going, and for keeping the women all worked up, but there are extenuating circumstances at times that call for drastic measures. (and I do mean "measures").

Some of us are still active, virile, and willing but because at one time our prostate was ripped out, we do need some "boosting up" of the ego. (and other things).

Therefore, a little blue pill is needed at times.

I think I once read that the recent great medication invented was cholesterol pills. It has cut down on heart attacks by the millions.

Then second is the Blue Pill. It has allowed Hugh Heffner to still have those young gals in his bed at the age of 80. That and the millions of bucks he is worth, of course.

Ain't science grand.
